Tonbo Elements Design Studio is in the business of creating one-of-a-kind fashion accessories, clothing, and household textiles that are super stylish, yet incredibly affordable. You want to look good, but don’t want to pay department store prices. You also don't want to see other people rockin’ the same thing you've got – it just messes with your sense of individuality. You love standing out from the rest. You love the idea of your friends coming over and seeing a gorgeous scarf or fun throw pillows you’ve purchased and asking, “What store did you get those from?” And you can say they can’t be found anywhere else but here, at Tonbo Elements Design Studio. My products are handmade and not mass-produced. Now, don’t you feel all unique? And you feel even better because you supported an independent business owner. It’s like having your own personal designer when you shop with Tonbo Elements Design Studio.
So many of us love and appreciate the artistry of a quality item made by hand. At Tonbo Elements Design Studio, simplicity, style, individuality, and affordability are my basic principles, which I use to connect to the same values in YOU. Contact me today to see how we can dress you up without dressing down your bank account.
Now, about me...
My name is Marquecia Jordan. I'm a Chicago-born and -based singer, actress, former graphic designer, and evolving seamstress! I have a B.A. in Graphic Design from Columbia College Chicago, but began sewing a few years ago when I started watching HGTV and obsessing over beautifying my townhouse (at the time) with items I made myself. It started with building a few pieces of furniture, then taking my first sewing class at The Needle Shop, where I made my first throw pillow cover. My interest recently extended to fashion accessories, and, as you can see, it doesn't stop there; I construct shawls, kimonos, bowties, neckties, pocket squares, zipper pouches – and there's more to come! I'm very excited about my continued growth, as well as building an ever-growing family of satisfied clients. I also have experience working as a wardrobe assistant and costume designer for theater.
What does "Tonbo" mean?
Tonbo is Japanese for "dragonfly". It's a personal symbol I adopted years ago because it represents strength, harmony, joy, self-discovery, maturity, and looking beyond what's on the surface. It reminds us to live life to the fullest and without regrets.
